A lifelong South Dakotan, Liz brings more than 20 years of experience in public/privatevsector leadership, international development, public policy, and organizational management. Throughout her career, she has worked with businesses, non profits
governments, financial institutions, across the United States, Asia, and the Pacific, building partnerships and leading programs focused on economic opportunity,
sustainability, agriculture, financial inclusion, and resilience.
Throughout her career, Liz has focused on practical solutions that create both economic and community value. She believes the private sector has an essential and often underappreciated role to play as a driver in addressing complex challenges, and that organizations are most successful when strong business performance, responsible stewardship, and community benefit work hand in hand.
Liz holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from The Evergreen State College and a Master of Arts in International Studies and Nonprofit Management from the University of Oregon. Her commitment to stewardship is rooted in both her professional experience and a lifelong connection to South Dakota's outdoors. An avid hunter, angler, and conservation advocate, she has long been engaged in issues involving natural resource stewardship, wildlife habitat, and the responsible management of South Dakota's land and water resources. Liz also serves as the South Dakota State Senator for District 10 and Minority Leader of the South Dakota Senate, where she has worked on issues including conservation, energy, economic development, education, affordability, and government accountability. At BSC, she works alongside the Board of Directors, local businesses, and community partners to advance practical, business-driven approaches to sustainability and help build a stronger future for South Dakota.
