Volunteer Opportunities

BSC is seeking a passionate and organized Executive Director to lead and expand our impact. This part-time volunteer role is ideal for someone with a strong commitment to sustainability and community engagement, who is looking to gain experience as a nonprofit ED.

 

Responsibilities

• Business Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with local businesses to promote BSC's mission and programs.

• Board Engagement: Collaborate with the Board of Directors to set priorities, report progress, and ensure strong governance practices.

• Communications: With the support of a volunteer team, develop and disseminate messaging and communications on behalf of BSC, including newsletters, social media, and press releases.

• Event Representation: Identify and represent BSC at 3–4 community events annually to raise awareness and foster partnerships.

• Certification Support: With the support of the board, participate in Green Business Checklist walk- throughs to assist businesses in achieving certification.

• Grant Writing (Optional): Pursue grant opportunities to support the sustainability and potential compensation of the Executive Director role.

• Budget Awareness and Fund Development: Work with the board to track finances and identify opportunities for funding, sponsorships, or grants.

 

Qualifications

• Experience in nonprofit or community engagement.

• Demonstrated project management skills.

• Strong passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship.

• Written and verbal communication skills.
